What is BlueSalmon?

Blue Salmon is an online self-assessment and portable planning tool that helps people to think about their lives and decide their goals for the future.

How does it work for clients?

Only clients who are members of subscribing organisations are given access to BlueSalmon. Once they have registered with the site, clients have access to the following modules:

  1. Identity module: Thinking about interests and sense of personal identity
  2. Relationships module: Thinking about relationships - for example with boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives or other loving partnerships.
  3. Family and friends module: Thinking about links with family and friends

As clients go through the modules, they have the chance to add points to their action plan. Each module should take about 15-30 minutes to complete.

When a client has completed the modules they can look at the action plan. This interactive tool helps users to break down their long-term ambitions into manageable short-term goals.

The website has been specifically designed and tested so that it is easy to use. As well as using clear language and bold graphics, there is a help facility on every page.

How does it work for staff?

Support staff may register for BlueSalmon as long as their organisation has subscribed to the service.

This gives support staff access to a fully-functional client version of BlueSalmon so that you can learn how the system works and effectively support your service users.

Support staff also receive privileged access to online action plans which have been shared with them by their clients. This helps support staff to prepare for keyworking in advance and monitor a clients' progress between sessions.
