Working with women (ex)offendersI convene the Women Offender Campaign Network - bringing together organisations and individuals to improve the treatment of women in the criminal justice system. I have uploaded the e-bulletin I have just sent out. Please let me know if you would like to be added to the mailing list or send me a membership form for the network. Please let me know if you have any comments on the content of the bulletin. The Network is also running a series of free practice seminars for professionals working with women offenders. I would be interested to see a specific discussion board on women as part of this forum - does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Policy and Campaigns Manager, Women in Prison Documents |

Re: Working with women (ex)offenders
Take action!
Take action and help us to tell politicians not to forget about women in prison... over 4,000 women will not get to vote this year because they are in prison. The SWAP (Supporting Women Against Prison) Campaign is helping make sure that these women are not forgotton. Please join us to support women without a vote and call on all parties to halve the number of women in prison. Please have a look at the manifesto action toolkit on the SWAP campaign site and get involved... Lots of 'votes' of support were collected during the Pankhurst Centre's International Women's Day events and Manchester University's Student Women's Group - the Riveters - will be highlighting the campaign during their women's week activities by dressing as suffragettes and encouraging people to vote to keep women out of prison. The campaign features in this quarter's Women in Prison Magazine which came out yesterday so I am hoping for a big response from women currently in prison. Please share any ideas of how to use the toolkit and get people signed up to the campaign. Thanks, Laurel |
