Families, Friends and Communities

Strengthening prisoners' and ex-offenders' positive relationships

Date: Thursday 5th November 2009

Inmarsat Conference Centre

Context

A growing body of evidence points to the importance of strengthening offenders’ relationships in making re-offending less likely and in maximising the chances of effective re-settlement - stronger bonds with family members and partners, closer ties and commitments to the wider community, and making amends with the past through restorative justice and victim empathy.
