FREE online learning - values, approaches and activities for people working in prisons

Life inside often leaves a great deal to be desired for those resident or working in prisons. Nonetheless, many staff  and volunteers are deeply committed and skilled; many governors and managers are enlightened. Some current activities and programmes for prisoners are genuinely original, inspiring and massively beneficial for offenders' dignity and support the running of a humane institution.

This FREE online CPD certificated course is for staff, volunteers or others working (or about to start working) in prisons whose efforts are person-focused in an institution committed to building a 'rehabilitative culture' that is hopeful for change.

It has been tried and tested by many people working at various levels and occupations across the prison estate (as well as the Ministry of Justice) including governors, managers, officers, psychologists, prison chaplains, librarians, tutors, official prison visitors and volunteers doing specialist work in prisons.

People work on the course flexibly and independently, in their own time and at their own pace using any device with internet access. On average people have spent between 10 and 15 hours on coursework spread over several weeks. The course is password-protected and coursework is saved for your own use and is held in total confidence.
