Use this section of the website to understand the significance of identity, relationships, family and friends, independence and spirituality in the lives of homeless and vulnerable people, and to think about how your services can incorporate some of the insights and suggested approaches.
This section includes guidance on:
- Identity - why a positive personal identity is important, developing a positive sense of identity, overcoming negative identities and achieving personal goals
- Family, friends and relationships - why family, friends and relationships are important; mapping important relationships; strengthening family ties and making new friends
- Independence - what independence means in context of homelessness services, why independence is important and supporting people to develop practical and emotional skills necessary for independence
- Spirituality - why spiritual belief and practice may be important and supporting its incorporation into service provision.
The guidance is based on extensive research with service users and practitioners conducted by Lemos&Crane over a number of years.
